Alumn Martin Hsu Flashlight-Paints in Latest Sprint Commercial

Martin Hsu writes on web forum Mattart.com about his participation in a new commercial of phone company, Sprint. The commercial, titled "Dreams," features the technique of "flashlight animation," which consists in exposing camera film long enough to record the strokes drawn in space with flashlights by performers. Hsu participated as a flashlight painter and an actor (he appears to the right of the screen holding the jump rope). He worked under the guidance of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, who directed Little Miss Sunshine. AdWeek explains how this new commercial sets the tone for Sprint's new market positioning.
