Illustration Grad Doug Sirois Wins Award in 36th Key Art Awards-Poster Category

6.16.2007

Doug Sirois finishes his first year in the CSUF graduate program in illustration with a bang (scroll down to see his recent distinctions)! Last night at the Beverly Hills Hilton, Sirois received the third place prize in the 36th Key Art Awards. The highly competitive Key Art Awards, organized yearly by the Hollywood Reporter, recognize the best creative efforts in the promotion of movies in the form of print ads, DVD packaging, TV and theatrical trailers, billboards, and many more. Sirois digitally painted his winning poster (showcased on his blog) for Pirates of the Caribbeans: Dead's Man Chest in a simple, yet dramatic composition with a vintage feel. CSU-Fullerton remains the art school with the most nominations and awards in the history of this competition (in the only two student categories of movie posters and trailers). Leading to this, four CSUF students had received nominations this year (three in the poster category, under the oversight of Professor Savala-Lalicker and one in the trailer category, under the oversight of Professor Hill). Sirois' next stop is the San-Diego Comic-Con where he and fellow graduate student in Illustration, Patrick Scullin, will share a booth.
