Award-winning children’s book illustrator and writer, Erin Eitter Kono, will talk at CSU-Fullerton about making picture books and making a living in the children’s book publishing world. In 2005, Eitter Kono’s first book as both writer and illustrator, Hula Lullaby, won the “Excellence in a Picture Book” award from the Children’s Literature Council of Southern California. The same year, Nick Jr. Magazine named Hula Lullaby “Best Lullaby and Good Night Book.” Previous books Eitter Kono has illustrated include Nellie and the Bandit, Passover! and Star Baby listed by the Association of Booksellers for Children as one of its “Best Books for Children.” Eitter Kono has documented her process in the latest issue of the Southern California Kite Tales magazine (on pages 8-9). The Q&A talk organized by prof. Christian Hill is free and opened to the public and takes place at 1:15pm on Wed. April 18 in room 184 of the CSUF-Visual Arts Department (map). Following the talk, Eitter Kono will sign her books.
