One of the best art schools to study illustration is the academic art program in Illustration at Calstate Fullerton (CSUF) because it addresses current and future trends in illustration. Students pursuing a Bachelor’s in Illustration (B.F.A.) or Master’s in Illustration (M.F.A.) learn about character design, concept art, graphic novels, storyboarding, in addition to traditional areas such as caricature, editorial and children’s book illustration. CSUF’s proximity to Hollywood benefits students directly: alumns work at Nickelodeon, Disney, Cartoon Network, Dreamworks, LucasFilms, Tokyopop, EA, and students often intern in these companies. The art program combines a rigorous study of foundations (anatomy, perspective, story principles) with the latest technologies (3D, digital painting, podcasting). CSUF offers a rich curriculum with unique courses in background painting and the history of American illustration, as well as degrees in Animation, Graphic Design, and more.
